Owls have the world’s best night vision; they can hear better than other birds.
Owl eyes don’t move. Owls have very flexible necks that allow their heads to turn most of the way around (about 270 degrees).
Ear tufts have nothing to do with the owl’s hearing. Owls have ears that you don’t usually see. Large ear holes are hidden by their facial disks. Unlike most birds, the feathers of an owl’s wings have soft edges. This helps an owl fly almost silently, so as not to be heard by it’s prey. |
Owls are helpful to humans by helping to keep the rodent and insect populations under control. |
