Most animals are diurnal-they need daylight to help them see. |
The heat of the day is uncomfortable for some animals. They prefer coolness of the evening to hunt, play, and work. Animals that come out at night are called nocturnal animals. |
Safety is one of the main reasons why animals are nocturnal. It is easier to hide in the dark, and harder for predators to find them. |
Raccoons have a better chance of finding food when nobody can see them. |
Some animals have an easier time finding food at night then they would during the day. Foxes don’t have to compete with as many large animals for food as they would in the daytime. |
