As previously stated, grades will be based on a number of factors, including homework and other assignments. Your child is pretty much competing against themselves and grades based on homework are to give an indication of how your child performing. Grades are made so we all know what areas you child should focus on more in order to have a good grasp of the material for their future academic careers.
With that in mind, your child should come home to you talking about assignments that are due the next day or at the end of week or, in the case of projects, in a month. If your child comes home saying they have no homework, you better get suspicious. I have them fill out their planner and tell them in class in addition to giving handouts but that does not always help them remember.
If there is ANY doubt as to what your child should be doing, don’t just say, “oh well”, or “really”, or “that’s strange”. Please call me or one of the other parents to verify homework. It is very important. Without homework that is done, I can’t fully know what your child has learned. If I don’t know what they learned, I can’t post an accurate evaluation of what they learned or completed.
Although I will try to keep on top of the kids when work is out or lacking, I may not be able to keep tabs on all the students in all their subjects all the time. I need your help so that your child can do their best. If you show an interest in your child and their academics, then they will be more likely to also care about their education.
Thank you so much for your understanding and help in this very important matter.
Take care and God bless.
Mr. Carrillo
